Fred Sobotka, an IBM Gold Consultant and award-winning IDUG speaker, will present an overview of the current state of open source monitoring tools for DB2 on October 7, 2009 at IDUG 2009 Europe in Rome.
For over a decade, the open source community has developed enterprise monitoring tools to compete against large, expensive IT systems management packages from the "big four". The results of these efforts include industrial-strength tools such as Hyperic HQ, Nagios, Zenoss, and Cacti, to name a few. Although these tools are typically embraced by network administrators, DBAs can also benefit by teaching these tools how to monitor DB2. If you're looking to expand your DBA toolbox, this presentation will get you up to speed quickly on which tools work best with DB2. |
