Fred Sobotka has been invited back to serve for a third year on IDUG's North American conference planning committee, which is currently beginning its eight month effort to plan IDUG's next North American conference, scheduled for May 10-14, 2010 in Tampa, FL.

Fred Sobotka receives IBM Data Champion award

On the opening day of IBM's IOD 2008 conference in Las Vegas, Fred Sobotka was inducted into IBM's Data Champion program, a new honor bestowed upon IT professionals who have made exceptional contributions to the data management community. Fred was among the initial group of database experts nominated into this program, and he looks forward to continuing his contribution to the DB2 user community in various ways, including blogging, writing magazine articles, and volunteering at IDUG conferences.

	DBAs may attend whatever conferences or courses are necessary for the job.
	Each DBA is limited to attend one technical conference or out-of-town course per year.
	The budget only allows one DBA to travel to an event, and then to share the materials with the rest of the team afterward.
	Only travel has been cut, so virtual/remote courses are still in the budget
	No budget left for any local or remote training, but working through free online tutorials is permitted
